Barack Obama finally let the cat out of the bag the other day when speaking directly to a potential voter and it was all caught on video.
“Your new tax plan is going to tax me more, isn’t it?” the blue-collar worker asked.
“It’s not that I want to punish your success,” Obama told him. “I want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they’ve got a chance for success, too.
“My attitude is that if the economy’s good for folks from the bottom up, it’s gonna be good for everybody. I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”

Video after the jump.
Barack Obama likes to talk about the American Dream or his personal view of it. I’m not exactly sure where Obama learned about the ‘American Dream’ but as far as I can understand its about giving people a chance to work at and succeed at life. When you work hard and take the opportunities (and the curve balls) that life provides us you can succeed in this great nation. Some will be more successful and some will be less successful but no one ever saw true success at the attempted (forced) redistribution of someone elses.
For those with children, planning to have children, or know someone with children you have to ask yourself one thing: do you want those children to grow up in a society where success is not the greatest goal but being just successful enough to hold your hand out for a peice of someone elses success is simply ‘good enough’? The 200+ year experiment that is America has been driven by the desire to control ones own success. That desire drives the entrepreneurial spirit of our free markets which in turn fuels innovation and the economy.
The foundation of our market economy is built on the success and failure of everyone in the market.Whether you are punching a clock or signing the paychecks you are part of the market and our economy. Failure is one of the cornerstones of our system in that it teaches people certain lessons. When you were growing up did your parents reward your misdeeds or were you punished? And from that failure in judgment you probably learned a lesson. Failure in the business world.. in the economy.. is necessary to teach people certain lessons. The American Dream that Obama likes to talk about is not the real American Dream his is more of an American Promise. The real American Dream is the ability for every man, woman, and child an opportunity to create success for themselves. It is: Life, Liberty, and the PURSUIT of happiness.
We all enjoy getting something for “free” but many of us have learned that very few things in life are free and success is most certainly not one of them. So maybe, just maybe, instead of hating George W. Bush so much and being so far in love with Barack Obama some of the American electorate should pull their collective heads out of you-know-where and think about the consequences of an Obama presidency. I know McCain isn’t the dream candidate but for the love of god when compared to Obama… the choice is pretty simple folks.

I think Obama covered himself pretty legitimately when he mentioned, ” If everyone under you is doing well off you will always have customers who can pay for your services. ”
As someone who is starting up their own business as well I can appreciate that. If you have a company making $250k+ then, come on you are pretty well off.
Think of others before yourself, we can’t fall further into a greedy selfish country can we?
Sean, I appreciate your comment.
I’m curious. If your company is making $250,000 how many employees do you think you can hire? Do you know how much it costs to employ the average worker?
Do you know what (revenue stream) constitutes a small business in the US?
I think you would be surprised what the SMB looks like in this country. Check out this document.

Where will our next Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, or Warren Buffet come from? If we start down the road to wealth redistribution now.. where do we end? What will drive innovation and entrepreneurial spirit?
One of the biggest problems with Obama’s tax plans is that they are poorly laid out. We have no idea where he is going to run with them because he does not include details.
When did success have its definition changed to “greed”? Also, don’t give me this line about “think about others before yourself.” If I wanted to spend my life looking out for other people I would have joined the Peace Corp. I chose to have a career and to learn and to become successful. When possible I assist others but I do it on MY terms not the governments terms or anyone elses. This is the American way as it has been since the beginning. Those hoping to live in a society that takes from one and gives to another would most likely be better served by finding a home across the pond.
Again, I thank you for your comment but I think you need to take some time, as a business man, and think about how hard you are going to work to make yourself successful and whether or not you want that success pillaged in order to benefit those who may not have tried as hard as you. Or would you rather make that decision on your own.. who to help and when?
